Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has for the first time confirmed the premature birth of his and wife Gauri’s surrogate baby boy, AbRam.

The actor via a statement said, “Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home.”

The 47-year-old said, “ Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now.” Khan who is already a father to Aryan, 16, and Suhana, 13, said the silence on this subject has been because of the personal nature of the emotional strife that they have been going through due to AbRam’s health.

Khan refuted reports that the couple had conducted pre-birth sex determination test. “Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child.

The baby was born much before speculation on ‘sex determination’ and other  ‘issues’ pertaining to it began in the media. Suffice to say his coming home puts to rest completely the false and at times insensitive claims of sex determination and alleged illegalities.”

The superstar thanked Dr. Jatin Shah for his expertise and contribution. “We also wish to thank all the other doctors, nurses and medical staff who have made his life possible.  As trying were the times, we never lost hope that life always brings with it.” He apologised to “all those other doctors and hospitals who had to face unwanted scrutiny and questioning by some parties.”

The actor appealed to all, to allow them to cherish their private moment as a family. He said, “Our son is a surrogate baby and the entire process is bound by strict confidentiality. We would appeal to all to allow us to cherish this private moment as a family. It seems unfortunate that I have to explain/clarify so many aspects for our new-born baby.”

Looks like the two best friends who hit a rough patch are back together

What’s friendship without a li’l fight and a patch up? Seems like Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar totally believe in this. At a time when questions were being raised about their friendship hitting a rough patch, the two sorted out their differences and silenced their critics as they were seen sharing a drink at a popular nightspot in Mumbai.

B-town was abuzz with news that SRK’s alleged affair with Priyanka Chopra didn’t go down well with KJo who shared a great friendship with Gauri Khan and he started giving Priyanka the cold shoulder. Later on, when Karan needed Deepika Padukone’s dates to promote his home production Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, SRK refused and insisted that Dips complete Chennai Express on time! There were even rumours that SRK skipped KJo’s birthday bash this year because of the differences between them.

Well, now with the two bonding and all, we know all is well. Could we also see a movie collaboration now – the period love story that Karan is working on? John Abraham is an astute entrepreneur and he proved that by delivering a hit with his debut production, Vicky Donor. Now we will see Johnny boy promoting boxing by getting together with David Haye –a known name in the boxing fraternity. So when did the Eureka moment occur? It seems the two hot men were having dinner when David suddenly expressed his desire to do something related to the sport. John, without wasting any time, asked David if he would be interested in investing in opening fitness centres in Mumbai which would focus on the art of boxing.

Haye gave his nod, Abraham started working on the venture, and finally here comes the brand – JA Haymakers. We hear it will at the most take a year for the project to transform into a full-fledged business. The duo is planning is to open centers in the Western suburbs and one in South Mumbai. John’s vision doesn’t end here; the dude has plans of promoting other sports as well and give them the much needed impetus. We wish you all the success Johnny boy…

Salman Khan demands Rs 20 crore to endorse cement brand!

The Dabangg dude refuses to promote a relatively new brand as the company fails to offer him more than Rs 10 crore!

Salman Khan is not only one of the highest paid actors in B-town, but also on the small screen and the endorsement space. Not so long ago, Sallu reportedly signed a Rs 7 crore deal to endorse a food supplement, and for his last cola ad, the star was paid a whopping Rs 20 crore. So when the bhai of Bollywood was offered Rs 10 crore to become the face of a relatively new cement brand, he rejected it outright.

Apparently, Salman had quoted Rs 20 crore and the company could not afford to pay him such an exorbitant amount. But the Mental actor was in no mood to compromise as he felt he should be paid a hefty amount to endorse a not so well known brand. Finally the company in question had no option but to back off from their plan of roping in Sallu.

Well, bhai certainly doesn’t take no for an answer!

Here’s the first song from Rohit Shetty’s much talked about action movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. In all honesty, we are not thrilled by it, though the trailer really grabbed our attention. Watch the number and tell us what you think….

Loud and over-the-top, the trailer of Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express looked really entertaining and we were eagerly waiting for the first song to be released. But what we got in the bargain for our long wait is not exactly worth all the anticipation. Given the flavour of the film, we expected a nicely colourful song featuring the lead pair of Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, or even a mast item scene with that pretty gal from the South, Priyamani.

But alas, we were in for a disappointment. One two three four might be your regular average dhinchak tapori number, but it doesn’t quite live up to the hype the movie has created. Priyamani and our fave star Shahrukh are trying really hard to make this one explosive, but their energetic moves offer not much that will light up your eyes. Their efforts are not helped by the quirky lyrics or the rather thanda composition by Vishal Shekhar. We are still trying to figure out what exactly SRK is doing in this song.

We liked the title song, Chennai Express. And we kinda approved of the sountrack that we caught a listen of in the trailer. This one….not so much. What do you think, BollywoodLifers?

Suraj Pancholi is not abusive or violent, says ex-girlfriend Janvi Turakhia

Almost three weeks after Suraj Pancholi was arrested for his alleged involvement in theJiah Khan suicide case, his ex-girlfriend Janvi Turakhia has finally come out in the open to defend him. Considering the legal mess junior Pancholi is in, Turakhia has decided to break her silence on her ex-boyfriend.

Janvi, who dated Suraj for more than five years, is quite aghast at the horrific stories and allegations against him. While talking to a newspaper, she said that in the five long years that they were together, Suraj was neither abusive nor violent. Justifying her absence until now, Turakhia said that she wanted to avoid the media thronging at her place. But now that Suraj’s case is intensifying with each passing day, she couldn’t take it any further and decided to come forward and defend him to the best of her capacity.

“My heart goes out to Jiah’s family. But I can’t believe a word of what they are saying about Suraj! This Suraj, who is supposed to have done these awful things to that poor girl (Jiah), is not the Suraj I know. My Suraj is incapable of violence against anyone. He hates any kind of confrontation. Whenever we fought, I was the one who was more aggressive. If he’s angry or upset, he likes to be on his own to work his way out of the problem,” she said, and added, “I don’t think any girl knows him better than I do. Even after we broke up we remained friends. Our families are also close. Suraj’s biggest weakness is his over-emotional nature. He gets upset by any hint of unpleasantness. To inflict pain or violence is unthinkable for him. He is one of the most soft-hearted souls I know. He not only treats his parents, sister and close friends with utmost love and affection, he treats even his domestic help, staff and driver like family.”

It is a fact that whenever a Shahrukh Khan film hits the screens, you can be sure it will garner maximum publicity. And this is what producer Rakesh Roshan is cashing in on as he has decided that the teaser of his home production Krrish 3 will be released alongside SRK’s Chennai Express.

So, come August 8, the ex-superhero SRK will help the current caped crusader Hrithik Roshan in his quest for promoting his movie. Papa Roshan said, “Launching the trailer with a big film guarantees many eyeballs. I am going to talk to Shahrukh or UTV about the same.” Smart thinking by the shrewd producer!

Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata Dutt are making sure that they keep each other updated about their lives. Since Sanjay started serving his three-and-half year sentence in Yerawada jail in Pune, we hear he is doing what it takes to be in touch with his family. So it seems the Policegiri actor writes a letter almost every other day to wifey Manyata so that he is abreast with the happenings in his household and also matters related to his production house.

Sanjay Dutt Productions has put in money in a couple of films and Manyata has taken the onus of spearheading it on her husband’s behalf. The actor has a slew of films up for release; we hope he gets solace in its success.

Raanjhanaa box office: The Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor-Abhay Deol starrer earns Rs 20.88 crore in its opening weekend!

Though Aanand L Rai’s hatke love triangle ran low on promotions, it’s minting good money at the box office

Raanjhanaa was certainly not a film that movie buffs were anxiously looking forward to, considering it had no star power and lacked the promotional blitzkrieg. But director Aanand L Rai was quite confident that his unique love triangle will not only be liked by audiences and critics but it will work wonders too at the box office. And in the opening weekend, the movie has managed to earn Rs 20.88 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Raanjhanaa gathered momentum after an ordinary start on Friday morning. The business multiplied rapidly on Saturday and Sunday. While Delhi-UP circuit has performed the best, the film witnessed favourable growth in every circuit over the weekend.”

Leading exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi pointed out, “This seems to be the season of underdog victories! With Aashiqui 2, Fukrey and now Raanjhanaa notching up unprecedented numbers at the box office, the industry is coming to terms with the fact that great content can make up for star power when it comes to making the audience dish out dough at the ticket windows!Raanjhanaa may not feature a known star (for the Hindi market) but it’s clearly a film loaded with conviction and its lead cast has ensured great numbers over the weekend and excellent sustenance on Monday! Break-up: Friday – Rs 5.12 crore, Saturday – Rs 6.74 crore and Sunday Rs 9.02 crore.”

Made at a budget of Rs 35 crores, the musical romcom featuring the unique chemistry between the unconventional jodi of Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor is being applauded by the masses. Surprisingly, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is going rock steady at the ticket counters. “It’s unstoppable. Collected approximately Rs 6.10 crore nett in its fourth weekend. Grand total: Rs 183.19 crore nett. Breakup for weekend:- Friday Rs 1.40 crore, Saturday 2.10 crore, Sunday Rs 2.60 crore. All Time Blockbuster,” tweeted Taran.
