Adelaide, Australia: A Qantas Airbus A330 jet with
players from A-League side the Central Coast Mariners among its 253
passengers made an emergency landing at Adelaide airport on Friday after
a warning light indicated smoke in the cargo area.
Initial indications were that the warning light was a false alarm.
The Mariners were en route to Perth from Sydney for their on Saturday night match against the Glory. In second place with two rounds to play, the Mariners are among four teams separated by just two points.
A second-place finish would give Central Coast a first-round playoff bye and an Asian Champions League berth next year.
The club said on its official Twitter feed, "Everyone is safe & sound ... a slight detour as we go for Glory."
